Gecko?

Guess what I found in my trash bin this morning when I pulled out my garbage bag to take it out?

Yep a little gecko - he had crawled in there and couldn't get out - too slippery!  Which gave me an opportunity to take a picture of our little friend!

So finally - after much inquiry - we have had Lumper!  Our friend, Indah heard that Nick was looking for it...and she made some inquiries and found a person at the pasar who makes them fresh - so Indah ordered them and even had it delivered to our house!  Oh what a special Lunch that was!!!!  Nick looks pretty contented huh?
                                           Delicious!
They are wrapped individually in banana leaves - and closed with a little bamboo stick.

Inside, is a mix of spicy chicken with curry and rolled in sticky rice - it is a special kind of rice with a sweet flavor to it.  Really Really nice and I can just hear Uncle Paul saying "how about me?"     Oh Uncle Paul - Portland Oregon - yes special delivery with FedEx?
Thank you Indah...such a treat!!!!

And lookie here....Nick had a table made by a carpenter here in the kampung!  He made this table by hand - no electric tools!  It is a fine job with a dove-tail fitting all done by hand!  We are so' pleased with it and now can sit at the table and now....have dinner guests come over!  Little by Little we have our basic needs met and we are so' comfortable!

Maybe the next family moving into this house, will be interested in some of these items when we leave.

Today we had a couple stop by - Agnus and her husband Bambang and their daughter Annemarie.  Bambang bakes bread and Agnus does the delivering - by foot.  We had made an order last week: Their specialty, rosemary with oregano and it was very tasty and we really enjoyed it with our salad this evening.

Bambang worked and sailed on board the Holland-American Ship Line for many years traveling all over the world.  He spoke English and also some Dutch!  We had such a nice visit with them! They are so friendly and we so wish we could speak better Indonesian!

Nick & I are seriously thinking about taking a course to do just that...learn to converse in Indonesian.  We are practicing daily with the little language book we have but the pronunciation is important too!  It seems like a really nice language to learn...and even seems simple compared to some other languages!

We shall see!

I am keeping up with my Journal - logging all our experiences - in more detail!  We are into our 3rd journal now!  No TV mind you - in this house - so we have plenty of time to enjoy doing other things. I like to log because someday we can look back at our wonderful time and enjoy these special moments! Days go by and - there is so much to take in - I can tell I am taking less pictures - gotta put that camera back in my purse when we go off!

Nick & I hope to take another little trip on the scooter soon - Kopeng is a nearby town that has some sights to see.  There is also Mt Marapi  Mount Merapi and also Mt Merbabu  Mount Merbabu  that we need to sight-see!  Some of these places can easily be visited on the motorcycle - and for $25,00 a day we can rent a car & driver and spend a day seeing some sights a little further away.  But quite frankly - it has been wonderful these past few weeks to just stay "put!" Wednesday we will be here 3 weeks in this house ALREADY!  I said to Nick today - can't believe we have already been here in the house that long!  Time flies!

Salatiga - The Town we are in!
