Tia & Yanti from Hotel Kayu Arum and Kiki who was from the Grand Wahid and Tia's friend Anna were my "students" when we first came to Salatiga. They worked at the hotels we stayed at and they desired to speak better English...and if we could help them? Yes of course we will!
So the first few months we did just that...they came weekly and we had a very special time together!
We all ended up buying a red notebook to take notes in and so we were called "The Red Book Club" cute huh?!
WE so enjoyed their friendship and company...and it was fun to look forward to - each week into the garage those pretty girls would zip into the garage on their motorbikes - and we would sit out on the back porch and chatted about this and that!
Yanti & Anna came with a beautiful gift for Nick & I....batik material so we can have someone make a shirt & a blouse from it! We would then have the same shirt together! Here in Indonesia it is common to have something handmade and people are so good at that!
Terima Kasih Anna & Yanti for this beautiful gift and we love the color too! Thank you for your kindness and also your friendship! It was so nice to get to know you these past months! We thank you for your warm welcome when we first arrived in Salatiga!
Anna is a accountant and also opened a perfume shop and Yanti is a gracious receptionist at the front desk and is always ready to serve her clients well and with sweet hospitality! She still works at Hotel Kayu Arum. This hotel has the beautiful garden & we so enjoyed that place and still go there to play a game of pool or have a bite to eat with friends.
When little "Lia" walked into our house....oh she looked at me with those big brown eyes wondering what is "that????" .....a big tall person with light colored hair....she kind of stood back from me for the first few minutes hiding behind her mother!
She is 2 years old - and finally Lia thought we weren't too dangerous after all!
