Bangkok - My What a Town! Lots to See & Do!

First Day in Bangkok ~

A New Day...Bangkok!
This is the our hotel....Bangkok Christian Guest House - a sweet place to stay close to downtown.

We have a comfortable room with continental breakfast included!

We decided to go to the hospital Jerry & Wilma had talked about close to the hotel...so we started walking and we came across this tree...look at those roots.....

....growing against that wall!

A very different kind of tree, isn't it?

The hospital a private one: Bangkok Nursing Hospital erected since 1898 and it was a unique hospital...it looked more like a Hotel to us!

There was valet parking as you drive up to the hospital...pretty fancy!

Look at the hallway... walk-in service and oh so professional!
 and the service was excellent!

We came to get our 2nd Hepatitis shot and              some needed dermatologist work for Nick.
Nick was helped - and we went into the Lobby to pay the bill....$100,- instead of $400,- in the States...quite a difference!

Our nurse who gave us the shots we needed was ever so kind and gracious with us and very helpful!  She gave us some helpful advice regarding traveling in Indonesia!  The 2nd Hepatitis cost us each $27,- each instead of $150,- we paid each in the States....oh my goodness!

No wonder people fly in from all over the world to have surgeries done here!  The service and care is excellent!  We were ever so pleased by Jerry & Wilma's recommendations!  They have had several surgeries done here themselves through their 12 years of serving in Cambodia!  Thank YOU you guys!

We headed downtown for the afternoon...wanting to see the BIG shopping center we had heard about...cars for sale and levels and levels of store - and oh my goodness it was so!

But first.....CARROT juice!!!!!!

Nick decided to have some carrot juice...and it was freshly juiced right there on the street corner!

..and look at those handy little plastic holders they use here in Asia to carry their drinks...pretty nifty huh?

We called over a tuk-tuk and asked what the cost was to the Paragon Siam Shopping Mall and he said 200 Baht- well we got this "grand tour" before he brought us to the Mall...he was determined to show us other sights...oh we were taken "for a ride" ...literally!
Finally after 2 tries - we said NO! the Paragon Mall PLEASE!

As we stepped out we did see a gigantic MALL(S)!

Oh I must tell you about these lights stairs: every step was a note on the piano...and so as people walked up it or down it...it played the note on the piano! How fun is that!!!! So of course I jumped up and down and back and forward to see if I could play "do re mi" well.....note quite...ha!
But cute nevertheless!  As the person would walk up or down...they would realize all at once 'they were making music' and then they would smile!

The in the basement was the Food Service - catering to many different ethnics ~ so nice!  Can you guess what kind of restaurant this is?  How cute is that huh?  And and the guy too - of course!!!!!!

There goes the SkyTrain ! It takes you through out the downtown city of Bangkok!  Well used!

Here is "one" of the entrances to the Paragon Siam Shopping Mall ~

Lookie here ....a horse made of teak wood......

......divide the amount below by 30 and you will get the price!

Nick is pretty tall....and this horse was too!
we came across a eating bar and found JUST what we were in he mood for.......

Nasi and sate with peanut sauce and Gado Gado! Lekker!
We were pretty happy about that!  Yum!

Oh and this too was pretty neat...as you entered into the Food Area - we were handed each this card...
and so whatever you order at whatever food booth you come to they scan the card and your charge goes on the card...and then when you leave this eating area...you pay at that time!  I thought that was pretty handy - because the food vendors were very busy preparing everything fresh...

There was yet another area of the mall...oh my goodness you guys...I couldn't believe my eyes.....hallway's of technical stuff....I mean hallways! Clothing and purses and it was jammed in there floors and floors of merchandise...people were shopping and - to us.....it was quite overwhelming...so much!
