Indonesian Embassy and a Ferry Boat ride down the Chao Phraya River

A great day in Bangkok ~

We first decided this morning to deal with getting our visa's for Indonesia in order first!  So off we went with a taxi this time to the embassy. come back in 2 days -Friday- between 2-3 pm to pick up the passports with visa's!  It will be a 2 months visa we were told and then we have to leave the country again and re-apply...my....I guess we will deal with that when it comes!
It was a busy place...lots of people in line wanting to go there too! We needed some copies made of our passports, and flight confirmations too. (...thankfully we did have pictures already - due to our experience at the Cambodian border...ha!)  When we came back with these items we stood in line again and we were done...

So today our plan was to take the ferry boat down river and see the sights along the way!  It was fun to sit in the boat and just look at the sights left and right....a big river...with lots of commerce!

Drinking lots of water...we tend to forget how important it is!

The ferry stops at the different piers to pick up and disembark people along the river!

One of the Temple's along the way.

There is a whole lot of "catfish" in the water and the people feed them...they are king size!and the people can fish them in the river but not along the area where they gather in groups!  These guys are waiting for the locals to feed them! Couldn't believe how many there was!  Jim & Al....do you see these big momma's?

with the breeze it felt quite good in the boat all afternoon!  We did get out at the end of the route and had something to eat and then returned - well almost returned...the taxi driver did not recognize the pier on the map we had with us...and brought us about 2 miles south of it to another pier!  We realized that the ferry would not pick us up at this smaller pier...oh boy...well walk all the way back to the main road and catch a local bus to the Right pier...experiences experiences...all the time!  People tend to say "yes" when they really don't know what we are asking! They are so willing to help or serve...but have not always learned the language of English yet!
And also the alphabet - is something they would have to learn in school too...they have their own cursive
These cute boats will take you down canals where we too plan to go on to see the "floating market"

Cute!

We walked through 3 other boats to get onto this one....and off we went back down the river to our starting point again!

We arrived at our end point and took the SkyTrain back to our hotel...it was a little after 5 pm and boy oh boy it was jammed!

it was truly amazing...so many people in that train...yet....everyone was courteous and no one really touched one another - even getting out went well!

Heading back to the hotel...I decided to go ahead and get my haircut! I was in real need...

..and the Salon was close to the hotel...prayed a prayer and in I went!

First I received this amazing hair wash....oh my goodness...in all my life I have never ever had it washed so well! It came with this wonderful head massage....the gal just didn't stop..I almost fell asleep there lying on this couch backward....very very nice massage...GOSH!  Twice washed & and then a hair rinse...yes and then a hot towel with a lemon aroma laid on my forehead and then behind in my neck...oh la la...I was ready for that haircut!

The gal spoke enough English to understand I wanted a trim...get it back into shape! She actually blow-dried my hair first...different....and cut it dry! She said it is better to see it that way and to style it... OK!

So I was really pleased with the end result...and thankfully so!  Not as short as before.

We later went out for a bite to eat at "Yes Sea Food" a Korean restaurant and wandered some more through the open market!

Tomorrow we plan to go back to the hospital for some dental work...well at least inquire what the cost will be!
Ellen - no like! But better to deal with it here!
