Guess who didn't want to be in the picture??? |
...and then walk downtown for a while...at least see the town of Sanur & the shops. We went along the beach - someone had said if you do you will find the street easier. So we took a 6 hour walk along the beach and shops and had a cup of coffee at Starbucks...and then it began to rain! We sat comfortably until it stopped and then continued to walk to this store we had heard about. Hardy's - kind of a department store.
Nick heard some people talking Dutch - and he approached them and chatted for a bit. The man told Nick he had just returned with his wife from Lombok the next island and had had a wonderful place to stay and raved about it! So we made a note of the name of the place and thanked him.
We headed back to the beach and then back to our homestay. We actually went online and looked to see what our Dutch friend had recommended and....... yes it was lovely! Kebun - meaning garden Villa & Resort - and it was in the town of Senggegi Beach. Shall we do it Nick? Yes he said...so he booked it for 3 days on Agoda.com. Wow...Lombok here we come! How exciting!
We relaxed at the homestay and watched a little TV and then went back for dinner - and again found a cute open pavilion with live music! Oh well - if you want to be spoiled again - go for it!
This group were singing some John Denver songs! Really well too!
We so enjoyed the music & relaxed and enjoyed a refreshing beer - Bintang (it is a Indonesian made Heineken) - we usually just share a bottle - and yes with it being so hot - it is quite refreshing!
Dinner was delicious - we love our Indonesian food! That is all we eat here in Indonesia - no western food at all. But of course we both enjoy the hot stuff too!
Well on the way back walking along the beach we came across some 'tour guides' and they asked what we were doing and where we were going? I mentioned we were heading to Lombok tomorrow and they said they could get us there booking the bus to pick us up at the hotel and then driving the hour to Padangbai the place to pick up the fast boat to Lombok - he could book us on a round trip...and if we were interested? At this time of the evening and knowing tomorrow morning we would be heading out of our homestay - we decided to sit with "Adam" and his friend and hear what they had to offer in regards to transportation tomorrow.
We "wheeled" & "dealed" a little bit and came to an agreement with price and a pick-up in the morning! Adam spoke English well but was full of tattoo's! Adam booked it for us and we would pay him tomorrow morning when he picked us up!
So we got it all in order and headed back to the hotel - he would pick us up at 7:15 am sharp the next morning. The boat in Padangbai - an hour away - would be leaving at 9:30 am!
OK - got that in place! Lombok here we come!
