First Day with Jerry & Wilma and New Friends - ON THE FRONTLINE MINISTRIES ~

Sunday Morning ~   Nick & I rested well..ah worth so much!  Being in a City - we heard the speakers again ...promoting political choices of the candidates pretty early..... 6:30 am! Yep bright and early!

Wilma was fixing breakfast and we sat down to a very nice breakfast...Wow...can we all believe it...that we are really here in Cambodia with them?

We also enjoyed meeting Shari from Indiana  and Tammy from Pennsylvania both here serving in the ministry with Jerry & Wilma!  Shari is here full time helping at the orphanage and Tammy has been here 5 weeks on her summer break.  She is a teacher back home and will be heading back to the States next week to start up the new school year soon!  She said she will really miss it here...and loves what she is doing!

Jerry & Wilma let us know that there a wedding...one of the girl's who has known the Lord since she was 13 yrs was getting married and we were all invited to come! Would we like to go to a Cambodian wedding experience?
Would we ever.....!
So off we went...Jerry & Wilma on their motorcycle....

....Just look at those special people!!!!

Here is the house we are staying at.  It has several rooms and 3 floors...with all the people & groups that come here to serve - it is a real blessing to have this house...with a courtyard and it is gated too.

Nick & I, Sherry & Tammy load up in the small tuk-tuk!  The driver is a ex-monk who was serving in the ministry as well but came to the ministry to "be enlightened" and guess what? He was! He learned about what it was to know this savior Jesus - and he opened his heart to the Lord! Some years later he married and  purchased this 'taxi' to provide for his family! Jerry calls him to give him the business ~

Here is Shari and Tammy! Sweet and devoted to the Lord!

And here is "tired looking" Ellen and Nick!

Heading down main street to the roundabout...

... there we have a Battambang Buhhdist statue  in the center of the roundabout...it was BIG!

Here is the happy couple....aren't beautiful?

Cambodian weddings are very colorful!
Three Bridesmaid's.....

and the Three gents too!

Welcoming their guests with little candies..and a very big smile!

Beautiful flowers arrangements!

People started coming in...they had errected this tent right in the middle of their little village...everything was brought in...tables, curtains, chairs, stage, speakers, a whole lot of work put right in the center of this little community of huts.

Dishes were brought in ... 8 courses of different meats: duck, chicken, beef, rabbit, beer, lots of soft drinks at the end they had a pan with veggies with a wondeful curry sauce with white rice...yum!
The sweetest was to see the Cross on the podium...yes most of these people had become Christians and many of them greeted Jerry & Wilma with much love and respect!
There was also many pastors there that are under the the Frontline Ministries...an amazing sight to see what the Lord has been doing through Jerry & Wilma these past 12 years...we were ever so proud of our beloved and committed friends and what God has been doing through them! An amazing work here in this town!

My favorite drink...I discovered it...Yes Lychee fruit drink...how nice is that!!!!!!!
This little boy poised for me...cute little guy! I pointed to the t-shirt and he gave me a big smile!

The parents were invited up on the stage with the Bride and Groom and there was a blessing done by the father to the guests.  He is also a pastor and has served for many years. The Bride has been going from village to village for many years teaching the children about Jesus. She has been so faithful and through her good work many children have accepted Jesus as their personal Savoir.  She had been waiting to marry all these years and now at 28 she found her beloved mate and husband! She said she had waited a long time and was so' happy for this day to come!

Look at this...4 on a scooter! Yes they all got on and off they went...mud and rocks everywhere...back to the houses (huts) it was quite a sight...seeing the tent right in the middle of this village...cows walking around...dogs...

We were ever so pleased to experience the wedding - they celebrate and enjoy their festivities and give's them a chance to get dressed up!  It is all rented.  So you can imagine what a celebration it is to get married...a very special day in their lives!  Wilma explained  to us that the Bride & Bridegroom and maid's & gents would dress into other outfits several times...for pictures...first green, then pink, then gray and last white!  They make it a very memorable DAY!

We headed home and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon - later, early evening we all took a walk through and we saw the Buddha temple which is very close to their home- the monks & young men live there full time...to get their education.
It seemed that everyone was out for the evening...but this is what the people do - eat out - enjoy sitting on a bench and some were doing some excercize's outside with a person leading them on a  loud speaker...they even played the song Y.M.C.A. - so cute!
