2nd Day in Rome ~

We really slept a bit too long...8:30! Shock!  Time to get up and see ROME!!! We dressed and went out...and decided first of all to get our Laundry done - we certainly needed to get that done!

Peter the other boarder had a GPS on his Pad so we headed to the 2 locations - Great!  We dropped it off - it would be done today!  We found a place to sit and have coffee and a snack and bought some fruit too!

Then we found out in order to get on the bus or Tram you have to buy a ticket in a tobacco shop  and later on in the day we found it has a sign outside the building a BIG "T" - OK learned something new today!
We purchased two tickets and headed into the City.

We came across this plaza and we both     were overwhelmed by what we saw!!!
Can you believe this Nico???????????????????  Just look at this building- look at those statues look at those stairs all made of marble!  Amazing and BIG!!!  We read it was called Altare della Patria - Vittoriano Click on Link ~

And the people...everywhere...so many tourists!  Everywhere!  All walking with maps of the city!

Double decker tour buses everywhere...buses, cars...Rome is a very busy City and draws so many people from all over the world to it!  Well we decided that it might be a good idea to get a overview by using one of the Tour buses.   We asked the guy standing there on the Segway and he said yes the bus tour is a continuous tour and you can get on and get off when you want.  The next bus would pick you up in 20 min.   We both consider doing this and purchased the ticket for the double-decker Bus.  For 18.00 Euro we could go around on this Bus & get off & on again at any of the sights it stopped at!   So we did - and sat there for an hour...going through all of the city...seeing many monuments and churches and fountains and cathedrals...amazing!

After a while we got off and sat to have a cold drink - it was pretty hot on the bus & the upstairs open area was just way to hot to sit - we thought!

After a COLD drink we headed to the Colosseum ~ my what a sight when we turned into the street!

He really fit in well with his surroundings!!!!

Nick & I were continually amazed again & again everything built  so colossal ...and I can't help but think how did those people so long ago do it...???????

    Caesar was Large!

We strolled towards another area and took more pictures...and again saw so many interesting buildings here and there!   So much to see and so much interesting artifacts!

We felt our feet aching - and so we needed to get off of them - fast!  We sat on a bench ~  Yikes my feet were throbbing!

Well we made a decision to go on ahead back to our area and do the rest tomorrow!  Both our feet told us that was a GREAT idea!

The tram took us back to the Trastervere area where our BnB room is and we then picked up the Laundry, bought some fruit and yogurts and thankfully headed back to the room!

It was already 6:30!  Ah....I cooled down with a shower...Nick conked out on the bed...and then at 9:00 we went out again for a meal...it was nice and cool out and we found a place to eat just around the corner from the apartment here!

Good!  We were thankful to sit and eat and just relax - we were pretty tired and our legs felt like "jelly" yes jelly - so much walking today!

Well it is now almost 1:00 am and Nico is snoozing and I am finishing up with this blog and get to Bed....too!

Time to hit the sack!  Goodnight and love from Rome, Italy!!!
