Vienna ~ A City with Culture!

After a lovely Austrian breakfast (yum!) we stepped out of the hotel and there was this shop across the street with my mothers name on it.....RIA!  Ah....MOM!  Hope to see you in a few months!
We took the tram to the downtown center and stepped out and saw this beautiful plaza with many horse & carriages ~ how picture perfect!  (they were doing some renovations to this entry)

Vienna ~ A City with Much Culture and History!

Read about it!
The dome was so large up there and so pretty!

Then we heard the music and saw a band marching down the street playing old familiar songs from the past.....Wow how fitting!

The crowds followed them and it was so neat to be right here in Vienna and hear them playing their "om pa om pa"
"Ellen is on duty...guarding her post!" ATTENTION!
Just look at this vastness of buildings ~ palace and museum's All spread out with beautiful gardens surrounding them.
Look at that rising above the trees...we will have to go see that tomorrow!  St Stephandom Cathedral....what ornate huh?  Baroque they say!

 Franz Joseph

Our first Apfel Strudel and oh it was good....yes very good!!!!!!

We had heard about the Saturday morning "flea market" and we were pretty close by - so we walked over to it and it was a lot of fun to just wander about nosing a little bit!

There was also a  veggie & fruit market and wonderful snack places to eat...butcher shop and cheeses for sale...nuts, clothing it was a very large market...great for the locals!

 Do you see anything interesting?
Would you believe it...... Kermit the Frog was there too...playing his horn!

The street that the market was lined up on had some really big mansions and large offices on it!  Look at those building left and right!!!!!

This was was just beautiful!!!!

These guys were playing Hungarian music...it was happy and lively!  So fun to watch them play!

The large cooling storage box was automatically rolled in across the parking lot by remote control!   Can you see the guy with his remote????

Nick noted the LARGE window's they opened to let the breeze in!  Nice!

Austrian Beer ~ Schremser!  It was at least 30 degrees (C) out there...HOT!
A 1930 Citroen - French made Car ~ So cute!

The Opera House ~

We ended our day (with sore feet) taking a ride on a tram around town - just to get an overview of it!  We crossed over the Danube River and so that too will be something to go see tomorrow!  We headed back to the hotel...late afternoon and this evening we need to get caught up with some rest & sleep!

Wow...Vienna...a BIG city - the capital of Austria!
