Today Babis Would Come to Pick us Up!

We had made contact with Babis when we arrived in Athens -  that was the PLAN!  We would first enjoy two days in Athens - and then on Monday we would get together with him!

OK Babis - that is great!

So we woke up this morning ready to check out of the hotel...and Babis would pick us up around 10:30 am -good!  We brought our suitcases down to the Lobby and decided to sit outside and have a coffee at the shop next door!

Then all at once ...there was Babis!...."Hello Babis...how great to see you here!"

What fun!  He looked very well, rested, and even had gained some weight!  "Yes he said...Greece cooking...so' good!"

We walked with him over to the parking area and then loaded up the car with suitcases and backpacks!

We then headed to his town Piraeus - a harbor town...just 40 min from Athens, and also the town he had worked out of and lived with Kristiani & kids some years ago!  Babis worked the Greece Cruise Lines for several years sailing the seas!  That was how he had met Kristiani in Semarang Indonesia when he docked there!

As we were driving ....I see a building & sign....... What?    RE/MAX in Greece too?
Why not - they would say!!!!

Having worked most of my real estate career with this company it was fun to see it!

..... we had met Babis originally in Salatiga where he lives with his family! Babis had plans to come to Greece to visit his relatives here in Greece this Summer - and he said in Salatiga...if you come to Greece & Athens do come look me up ...which TODAY was the Day! YES!!

Babis brought us to meet his sister...and where he is staying while visiting here in Greece.

Eleni gave us a warm welcome & her friend Stella was there too!  We sat outside on  her lovely patio and she offered us a delicious Greek drink.
..hmmm...nice!

A Greek liquor - a strawberry flavor...my so good!

And she had made a very nice pudding made of pineapple & coconut!
Wow...so kind!  Then Babis translated for us!  We enjoyed looking at the recent wedding of Babis' son Elias with Maria!  We saw foto's & video clips of a beautiful Greek wedding in church & also Greek dancing and even plate throwing!  What fun...and Babis said it was a 3-day celebration...with family coming from all over..including Crete which is 9 hours from here!  Didn't realize it was such a distance away still!

Then Eleni had prepared lunch for us...oh my Eleni...so kind of you to make such effort!  We sat down to a full meal .....and a nice glass of wine too!  Oh she was so gracious and hospitable!  Greek hospitality!

We enjoyed meeting Babis' sister Eleni - & enjoyed a really nice visit with her...she was a sweet Sis! Wonderful for Babis to be comfortable & at home in her house  and having been able to come back to Greece to celebrate the wedding with the family!

Babis then suggested that we go look for a hotel close to the harbor where we would leave tomorrow morning to go to one of the islands.  He had suggested a island that would be really nice – he said not so touristy…yes there are many other island out there to visit: Mykonos, Santorini, Aegina and so many more…but he said Agistri is very nice!

OK Babis we will take your suggestion!

We drove to the hotel area and found Glaros Hotel...close by the harbor - just walking distance and a comfortable roomwith great wifi & a reasonable  rate! Great…then we unloaded our suitcases and we then walked with Babis down to the harbor where the Ferry boats depart to the islands!
Babis said this church is called "Saint Nikolaas"  Of course we had to take a picture of the other Nicholaas!

Babis knew where to go and we booked the trip which would depart tomorrow morning at 9:30 am and it would take  2 hours to this island!  OK…great we got a lot accomplished today...thanks to Babis!!!!

We then went back to hotel and Babis said he would be back in the evening at 8 pm to pick us up to meet his son & new daughter in law!  Oh how nice…yes!

So we relaxed & rested and later at 8 pm we were down in the Lobby & there was Babis!

We went to Elias & Maria home

and so enjoyed a lovely evening visiting with these newlyweds!

They had a very cozy home..with a beautiful open balcony!

She had decorated her home so beautifully!it was warmly arranged and so inviting when you walked in!  Very Nice Elisa & Maria! – loved the colors she used- she had painted the bench, table & chairs a taupe and it was so nice!  And she proudly said that Elias made the patio set…WOW so good!  We were impressed by his very nice work!!!  Maria had candles on and we enjoyed a nice glass of wine! Nick said to me later..."I know you liked her home...for you love to decorate a nice home too...and you both enjoy that!" Yes Maria...I felt at home in your lovely home!!!

Then they suggested we have a snack”have we had “Tzatziki” already ?????  no but know what it is..I sai So Maria ordered it to be delivered and 30 min later we were sitting down to a feast!  Pork or Chicken tzatziki…filled with a delicious garlic yogurt sauce with tomatoes and onions…oh my so good! French fries and salad…and a nice glass of wine…YUM!

Even some "sate" - but we were on overload by this time!  All so good and all more then we usually eat!  Gosh...we were spoiled!

We enjoyed our time together!!  They were a darling couple and Babis was so proud of his son & new daughter in law!  Sweet!

They had 2 cats and they were very fond of their pets!  This one was cross-eyed...I don't recall seeing that before...Maria said that was a special kind of cat!

Maria makes candles as a hobby with many very nice fragrances a very natural smell to them & she kindly gave us one so that we could enjoy sitting on a balcony at the   islands with a glass of wine & candle light…how sweet of her!  Oh Maria you are so thoughtful...YES we will gladly enjoy one!!!

We enjoyed our time with Babis and his family and then Babis brought us back to the hotel!  We appreciated a very nice day with him and thanked him for everything!

This figurine was on their wedding cake...it was so' cute...But I took the picture too fast...so it is blurry...but the Bride is dragging the Bridegroom by the collar...cute huh??

So sweet to meet Babis family!  We were so thankful for the visit and their open hospitality for our day in Piraeus!  Thank you Elisa & Maria and God Bless you both!

Maria gave me a little gift from her wedding and made up so' pretty!

Thank you Elias & Maria for your warm hospitality & Babis for a great day...and your help to direct us to the "right island" to visit and help us with all the arrangements!
