Relaxing in Vienna - It's Sunday

 Today Sunday we took the metro to see this amazing structure and very well known cathedral here in Vienna ~

St. Stephen Cathedral

This church was originally founded in 1137 can you believe that?

It felt like it !  I

Thankfully it was open to the public - and being Sunday morning it was a sweet time with the Lord sitting in the pew and having prayer time! 

 The ceiling was so high...and so detailed.

 Outside people were gathering & coming from metro, trams & buses to see the Cathedral!

 We heard singing voices...young boys...a group came and they sang some songs for us...they just might be part of the Vienna Boys Choir???? Maybe???? But they sang in beautiful harmony and it was very tender indeed!  Everyone clapped and so enjoyed a song in English and a Latin song!

We enjoyed walking down town a bit...on Kartnerstrasse a popular street well known for its shops...right there by the Cathedral.

At 6 pm on Saturday evening the shops close & are also closed all day Sunday...so people enjoyed a stroll & did some window shopping!  We stopped to have a cup of Cappicino coffee and we "split" a apple strudel for our morning snack!

 Oh by the way...you might notice something in this picture and other pictures - do you see a part of the church seems to have a big poster on it?  Well they are renovating that part of it...so what they have done is taken a picture of "that part" of the area and then made a "large" printed screen on the scaffolding!  Can you imagine that? So you see a picture of what it looks like right behind the scaffold!  We also noticed that in Athens!  Didn't even know there are printers that print that LARGE!!!

 Well there were some shops open....Souvenirs Shops! 

This morning we walked across the street to the train station and purchased tickets for tomorrow morning at 10 am to leave Vienna for Salzburg.  We understand it is smaller and also in the mountains!  We think we might like that better!  When I think of Austria - I think of beautiful mountains!  

We had some rain this afternoon...and decided to go back to the room for a while...
