More to See in Rome...Oh Yeah!

The plan was to wake up - get dressed and - get out there while it was still cool!  But we had to make some decisions....too!

Today would be our 3rd day in Rome and in this BnB...and tomorrow was check-out...so what is the PLAN?  We have to consider what, where, and how?

There are so many lovely places to go and see...yet we can only do what we can do!!!!!  We decided that we would like to go to Florence as our next city to visit!  OK and how? Train...and how do we get to the train station and where is the train station????  And what is the schedules for the trains going north to Florence?

All this is important of course and we have to plan ahead for tomorrow morning!

So we talked about it for a while...I read up the things we could do in The Lonely Planet Travel Book & did a little research on the laptop... and we decided to go by train to Florence!

We know about this Super Fast Train here in Italy and I pulled up some info on it...lookie here: traveling at 360 km/hour...Yikes can you imagine that???  This train is called the Frecciarossa - then there is the Frecciargento that travels 200km/hour and the Eurostar Italia that is like the one we have decided on, but faster.  They are intercity trains!

OK Time to hit the road Jack - let's get going with our day!  We took the tram into town  again and this time we decided we wanted to go to the Vatican & this fort close by!

We took  Tram 8 and then changed to a Bus 64 ...heading that way....
Someone pointed "that way" OK! Good!
Walking down this street and then......

Oh we get awestruck by the size of these buildings!  Truly overwhelming!

Saint Peter Square Colonnades
 Obelisk Interesting History! Read up!

Saint Peter's Basilica

Smile Nico...got to take a picture of us here on the promenade of the Vatican grounds!

We purchased a card for Tante Terry in Newburg, Oregon...this will have a Vatican postmark on it - I think she will be pleased!

Yes it is hot out there...a little shade and take the load off the feet huh Nick?

See...Nick is holding up the Obelisk with his ONE hand!
Very good Nico!

The Silver man?  Or the Tin Man?  Oh my he has some double barrels in his hands!

So this guy...what happened to his head??????
Walking down the street away from the Church towards the Castel ...we saw some interesting people...ha!
Take a good look at these guys!!!

 Beautiful inside shopping area ~

The Famous Trevi Fountain ~ Under Remodel!
We wanted to see this sight because it was so well known...yet when we finally got there....all we saw was this ...it was being renovated!  Oh well - you can read up on the details of this sight!

Too bad...so we decided on lunch...and when we found this cute little eating area close by the fountain area....
We ready to order & the waiter...began to speak Dutch to us!  Yes he had been in Holland learning the hotel & restaurant business and lived there in Amsterdam for 10 years he said!  He spoke well and was so friendly ~  great picture! Great smile!
When traveling to the inner city we kept crossing the Tiber River -
Tiber River ~ Longest River in Italy! & notice some tents along the waterfront.....so we decided to check it out.  It was early evening and there was activity down there!
People were strolling down to the river and there were many eating places along the river, and treats to buy!  The lights began to go on - and the darker it got...the busier it became!  Again...everyone is out in the evening - either having a glass of wine with a friend, a good strong cup of expresso or just taking a walk with their pets!
Isn't this a lovely setting???? Oh gosh just pinch me!
Yes it is....for real!

What a great way to end our time in Roma!

Yes a lovely evening stroll & a bite to eat and enjoying special time together!

We are thankful!
