Wow....We are Traveling into Tirolean Area! Oh My - How Beautiful!!!!!

Nick picked up the rental car at 11 am this morning....we got the suitcases down into the car and off we went!

Our plan was first to head back to the area we were in yesterday...to go to this house high up on top of this mountain top called Eagle's Nest.  It was part of the Hitler era - and it was a gathering place of the elite of his Reich - the view would be outstanding there!

Well off we went and within 30 minutes we were back in the same area from the previous day and found the area called  Kehlsteinhaus Eagle's Nest  oh good Nick...make a left turn...we found it!

We drove way up the mountain and there was buses going there too!

We parked the car and went over to the area - and there was a big restaurant ~  so we decided it was time for some lunch...and the hall was really big - a family restaurant....cute!

We then paid the fee to go up and found out we all had to get into a Bus to get to this Eagle's Nest...this house up on the very top!  Oh my your guys....it was the steepest trip ever...and it rained cats & dogs...and this crazy bus FULL of people kept climbing up on this very narrow ledge...with the mountain side straight down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes STRAIGHT DOWN MIND YOU!!!  I don't get concerned real quickly about things...BUT this  road narrow & so steep & raining????  How these buses do it day in and day out...all Summer season long????!!!!!

FINALLY WE GOT THERE~  We got out...still raining and everything was fogged in!  There was cute sitting areas outside...and with a clear day...oh it would of been BEAUTIFUL....as you can see - it was fogged in!  Too Bad!

We picked a wrong day to do this and it would be the only we could!  We went through this very very long tunnel..and then there was this round area where there was this very large elevator...made of brass the whole thing...beautiful - and probably 20 people got in at the same time!  We went up and arrived on the outside again...raining...and walked along the outside area...where all the terrace seating was...but all wet of course!  People walked up this other area to a view point but we could see they would see nothing...so we did not follow them but went into the building!  But regretfully - we were both disappointed ~ this Hall has become a restaurant...and the fireplace with 1938 was the only thing that might of been worth seeing (accept for the view of course if the weather was good!) but people were eating...there was one room that we were told was Eva Brown's room and that was all we were told....I had to ask the waitress behind the counter "is there anything we can see?"  She explained that this dining hall was it...that this house perched up on this rock was only used for day meetings...no one slept here...(except maybe Hitler and some help) but it was not at all what we had expected.

We had already had lunch so we left on the next bus heading down again.  Better to read up on the link above...you will learn more then what I can share with you here!

The ride down was thankfully slow...but oh boy....amazing they use those buses to drive this road...no it was not unsafe...but just a one lane road...and so steep and you could look down the slope!

We got back to the car, turned on the heat to dry off...and off we went on the road we had decided on the drive through the Tirol area!  Exciting!!!!!
2 Maps giving you an Idea of our route!

We took lots of pictures...and so enjoyed the scenery...and went from one village area to another...and up and down and around....seeing more lush mountain sides and darling little towns..all with darling Tirolean houses....large ones...small ones...with flowers...always flowers hanging from their balconies.oh you guys...it was darling and cute and so schoon...wunderbaar.....marvelous...gorgeous and yes gorgeous again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Driving from one valley to another...
....and then down to another one...all just breathe taking!!!!!!

Lush forest...as we drive through the valley's....into another area...

The Eagle's Nest area was actually Germany...so we went over the border from Salzburg to get there...but didn't not see a border.  With it being a part of the Euro it is all open now to cross.
Because of the rain....lots of waterfalls along the way!

We came to the town of Pleisen.......and decided it was time to get a place for the night!  You could tell on the parking lots that others were doing the same!
We found Tannerhof a darling place and the price reasonable enough for the high season we are in right now!  So we took it and had a lovely stay!  A Darling place to stay..highly recommended!  It was right on the road ~ Tannenhof-das-Wohlfuehlhotel

Our favorite...feathered pillows and yes a duvet bed cover...of course - we are in Austria!!!  My how well we slept!!!

We had Garlic soup & a delicious salad (salat) for dinner...just right!  But look how cute they presented it??? See the bowl...and how they put the bread crumbs on the lid?????  Wow - such a cute idea....Marilyn...Likes?

We love these barns they make here...cattle gets brought in - in the evening...wood stacked neatly under the cover....hay & wood up top....everything is so clean here in Austria!!!

"Beware Children"

A beautiful setting, and their neighbors right behind them had a big barn and of course the houses were in the Tirolean style...with beautiful flowers hanging from the balcony!

Pinch me!  Is this for real???? Do people really really really live like this - with all this beauty around them???
 See the wooden sleigh??? Cute!
