Visiting Beppie in de Veluwe ~ Doornspijk

What fun to go see Beppie one more time before she leaves back to Indonesia!

"Hi Beppie...how good to see you again!"

The "chalet" was adorable...in the woods surrounded by pine trees -

Wow such a nice area Gelderland is!

The house has a large deck to enjoy -

Elburg - how fun it was to go and see this town!  Say said that in 1200 it became a town - can you believe that?

The history here....love to hear about that!

Beppie took us for a great tour - and she showed us the town she lived in from 8 years old to 18 years old!

She took us for a great walk - ah such beauty!  This is a part of Holland that is different for me...having lived on the coast in the past!

"Gelderland" is a providence of Holland that is wooded.

This was the strangest thing...we walked down this wooded area and then all at once...we saw this open area...

...and sand dune...right there in the middle of the woods!  The sand was really fine...like beach sand...so unexpected to see this right in the center of this wooded area!

Yes we have desert back home and the dunes close by the coast but this is different for us!
We got into the car and she showed us her town...Elburg is surrounded by water and a wall...this is how they protected themselves from the enemy so long ago.

The Lion & Shield of the city of Elburg...as we enter crossing the bridge.
The wall is high and wide!

Here we are....

The very building Elisha & Beppie were married in!  How special!!
The shops are so inviting ....

Ellen has to control herself!!!!
Love to see the bikes - they are so different, always parked - e v e r y w h e r e !!!

We visited the church that Beppie attended in her youth!  This church was dated 1507  ....OLD!  But still in use through out the week!

We continued down the main street & because it is such a darling town - it draws many visitors~ we can understand why!!!

Beppie said "hey Ellen that street has your name!"  Then we saw a restaurant which said "Bij Ellen" which means - this shop is "offered by Ellen"  Gosh I am popular in this little town of Elburg!!!

Elburg You can Click on this Link!

We continued walking down the street to the end and walked through the main port entry...and came to the harbor!

Wow...so pretty with all the boats -
 Such pretty scenes...don't you think?
Beppie & I walked into a bakery and she met a old school mate from long ago!  Wow!

We sat down to enjoy a nice lunch together!

We went by to visit Beppie's mom "Bep" ~ we now know where our Beppie's funny personality came from!  It was a blessing to meet her!  We explained to her that we had also visited Beppie & Elisha in Indonesia!

She lives in a very nice facility!
Soon Beppie will be returning to Salatiga Indonesia to husband Elisha and son Ruben.
